In the UK the east was always where the noxious industries were because of the prevailing westerly winds, so the West End would be where the posh houses, shops etc would be.

Dark gloomy.and atmospheric!

Does nobody miss the old St James Centre? 🤣

Great photo

I like what they've done with the retail units on the left. Works well as a contrast to the STJ.

Love the location. Being in Edinburgh we mostly take these closes for granted. A beautiful reflection.

Love this!

Brilliant

That's a fascinating photo of such incredible figures - the workmanship is amazing - what do they represent?

Nicholson street?

Great image aligned with a great quote

Stunning photo.

Waverley Bridge. I've walked it many times too. To and from work.

An extra post for a breezy Friday. You might need to click to see the whole thing. Could make a good phone background maybe.

Outstanding

Beautiful black and white shot of that magnificent library in the darkness - but lighting up thanks to moonlight(?) or streetlights(?) - regardless, it looks fantastic.

I just love your black and white photos! 👏👏👏
